Music is for Everyone
Welcome to the new school year! This year in music we will be learning how to become excellent musicians. Kindergarten and first grade students are going to explore the basics of music such as beat, rhythms, and movement. Second, third, and fourth grade students will be focusing on learning how to read music and transfering that knowledge to various instruments and scenarios. My goal is that every student will be able to leave my classroom and apply their musical knowledge to other instruments if they want to continue in music.
Currently we are working on a music hand book in all grades. Kindergarten is working on drawing their experience in the class, while all other grades are focusing on musical symbols and notes. We have been exploring clapping rhythms by rote and note and rhythm composition. In future classes we will be composing actual score and songs that we will be posting on this site for your enjoyment.
We are working on getting additional musical instruments, some of which will be arriving soon, but we could use some help. If you have any old instruments lying around your house that you no longer want, then we would love to have them donated to the school for the students. We also could use old butter tubs, Cool-whip containers, and buckets of any size to make some drums. We will use these to do improvisation, drum circles, and music composition.

Fall Music Class Project
All classes are currently preparing productions of their own radio story. Students will incorporate musical sound effects, storyboards, and creative writing. Productions should be up by Thanksgiving Break!
Also, we are having a school dance on October 25th. We are going to be learning a few line dances so that every will know a few moves for that evening.
Have a great Fall!
